Bio
Dam Linh Nguyen is a PhD Candidate in Economics at NYU. Linh’s research fields include empirical industrial organization, applied micro-econometrics, machine learning, causal inference, and matching. His academic work has covered a diverse array of topics: from eviction policy and electric vehicle subsidy design to the distributional effects of open banking in credit markets.

In summer 2025, Linh supported assortment planning for Amazon Private Brands by providing optimal feature selection recommendations for new product launches. Specifically, he developed, estimated, and simulated demand models to uncover a new opportunity projected to generate over $2M annually for Amazon’s retail business. Between 2015 and 2020, Linh was a Senior Analyst in the Antitrust Group at NERA Economic Consulting. He led teams of analysts and conducted competitive research, contributing to the completion of multi-billion dollar mergers in consumer packaged goods, data storage technology, and agrochemicals, among other industries.

Linh earned an MPhil in Economics from NYU; a BSc in Applied Mathematics, magna cum laude, from Columbia University; and a BA in Economics, as a Levy Institute Scholar, from Bard College.
